WiTTIE Terms of Use Policy

By creating a WiTTIE user account you are agreeing to the following terms of use.

WiTTIE Terms of Use for All Users

The first five items refer to what you, as a WiTTIE user, will or will not do.

  1. You agree to license any content you create and post on WiTTIE under the Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license.
    • This license gives other people the right to share, use and build upon your work, but they must give you credit for your work and they cannot use your work, or any work they create based on your work, for commercial purposes.
    • Only post work you created yourself. If you use someone else’s words or ideas in your work, be sure to give them credit.
    • You cannot post any copyrighted materials (such as tables, graphs, images or videos created by other people or organizations) to the WiTTIE web site without permission of the copyright owner (usually the person who created the work).
  2. You are responsible for the content you post. WiTTIE is not responsible or liable in any way for the content you post.
    • Follow your school rules and regulations related to posting content on the Internet.
      • Students under 18 years of age may need parental permission to have their information or images posted on the Internet.
    • Follow the laws of your city, state, and country.
      • Do not post anything dangerous or illegal.
    • Be respectful and mindful of other people’s privacy.
      • Do not post anything mean or offensive.
      • Do not post personal information or images of others, especially children, without permission.
    • Be mindful of your own privacy.
      • Do not post any information you do not want everyone else to know, including your full name.
      • If you are under 18, discuss with your parent/guardian or teacher what is appropriate to post.
    • Remember that WiTTIE is used by students of all ages.
      • Do not post images, videos or text that would be inappropriate for young users. This includes content of a sexual or profane nature.
  3. You will not hold WiTTIE responsible for any claims or demands made by third parties over content you post to the WiTTIE web site.
  4. You will act in good faith to contribute to WiTTIE and not purposefully try to disrupt or deface the site or content posted by others. You will not intentionally try to harm others or to gain financially through your use of the web site.
    • You wil not intentionally try to disrupt the service, to post viruses or other harmful computer code.
    • You will not post advertisements, "chain letters", "pyramid schemes", or anything similar.
    • You will not use any knowledge you gain of other user’s user names or email addresses to send "junk mail", "spam", or solicitations.
    • You will not distribute user names or email addresses to third parties.
    • You will help maintain the integrity of WiTTIE by reporting any inappropriate material or behavior to wittiesupport@gmail.com.
  5. You agree that you are using WiTTIE at your own risk and that WiTTIE does not provide warranties of any kind.
    • We cannot guarantee that information posted in the web site is correct or complete.  WiTTIE shall not be liable for loss or damage that results from information posted on the WiTTIE web site.
    • We cannot guarantee that the posted content is virus free. WiTTIE shall not be liable for any damages to your computer system that results from accessing material posted on WiTTIE.
    • We cannot guarantee that the service will be continuously available. WiTTIE shall not be liable for loss or damage that result from the disruption or discontinuation of service.

Additional Term of Use for Participating Teachers

Special Additional Term of Use for Teachers Participating in a WiTTIE Project with Their Class

  1. If you are a teacher participating with your class, you also agree to monitor your students' participation by:
    • Ensuring your students are eligible to participate in any project hosted by WiTTIE.
    • Ensuring your students understand and abide by these terms of use.

Terms of Use for the WiTTIE Team

The next four items refer to what we at WiTTIE will and will not do.

  1. Although WiTTIE is not responsible for the content you post, we reserve the right to monitor the WiTTIE site and investigate any reported grievances.
    • We reserve the right to remove any offensive or otherwise inappropriate content.
    • We may cancel your account or refuse to provide service to you should you choose not to follow these terms of use.
  2. We will act in good faith to maintain the WiTTIE service, but there may be times that the web site goes down or requires technical service. There is a possibility that WiTTIE may be discontinued permanently for some unforeseen reason.
  3. WiTTIE is in a pilot phase which means there will be ongoing changes to the web site and services provided.
  4. We may need to update or revise these Terms of Use. We will note changes on this Terms of Use page of the WiTTIE web site.
