Tutorials/Uploading and Embedding MP3 Files
From WITTIE
Uploading and Embedding MP3 Audio Files Is Easy!
So, you have an audio file you'd like to add to a page here in WiTTIE...
The first thing you have to do is make sure your file is in MP3 format. If your file is not in MP3 format, you can use Audacity to convert the file from most audio formats to MP3 format.
Look for a forthcoming tutorial on this process.
Uploading an MP3 File
Once your audio file is in MP3 format, you're ready to upload! Here's how to do it.
- Click "Upload File" from the Toolbox on the left side of the page.
- Click the "Browse" button. Then find and select the audio file on your computer (or phone, or whatever).
- Make sure the name that appear in the "Destination filename" field is sufficiently descriptive. Modify this name if necessary.
- Click the "Upload File" button. You'll automatically be re-directed to the new file's page here in WiTTIE.
You're halfway there! Good work!
Embedding an MP3 File
Now, you're ready to embed the file onto the page from which you want the file to play!
- Open another web browsing window or tab, and navigate to the page where you plan to embed the audio file you just uploaded.
- Click edit.
- Copy and paste the following text into the edit window: <flashmp3>your file name</flashmp3>.
- Now go back to the audio file's page (the other open tab/window). Highlight and copy the file's name (including the ".mp3" part at the end of the file's name).
- Go back to the edit window for the page on which you will embed the audio file. Within the code you copied and pasted onto this page, replace "your file name" with the file name you just copied from the file's page.
- Click "Save page."
That's it! Your MP3 file should now play on the desired page!
Your file should show up in a small player that looks like the one below...
