I choose to write about the topic, child abuse and neglect because I find this subject to be an important subject matter of teaching. I had to ask myself, What is the most professional way to handle sensitive information such as child abuse and neglect? What are the proper ways to report such information? Through my research I have learned a lot. All teachers hope to never experience this intense, senstive information. I have learned that there are several different types of abuse; physical, sexual, and emotional. After reading my article, what have you learned about the Do's and Don'ts of a teacher in this situation?
As I was researching and writing for my topic of whether or not universal pre kindergarten should be implemented, I found it very interesting to note that for most it is the middle class that is left out when it comes to pre-k. This was due to the fact that there are federal assistance programs that help those who meet the low income requirements and the wealthy are able to pay to send their children to pre-k. Studies have shown that pre-k is vital and does influence a child's future academic progress, however, if a universal pre-k is implemented then the government would have to funds for EVERY child to attend, reguardless of income. This would put a huge strain on an already tight economy. Should a universal pre-k be enforced to improve our four year olds and their future or is the cost literally too much?
