When students come to study at ODU from different countries, they need to accustom themselves to a lot of things: behaviors, foods, clothes can be different. For example, food is very difficult to becoming accustomed. Foods’ tastes, shape, appearance, cooking styles are varied here. Especially, food taste differentiates from the several countries food tastes.

Local Attractions
ODU receives thousands of students from the world every year. Nowadays, for this big number of students, ODU’s faculty and stuff try to offer everything students may need, such as dormitories, transportation, service centers, organizations, activities, and study supplies. Also, ODU has the most academic programs that students can find and major in easily for both international and American students. There are many different departments in different areas of studies, such as sciences, arts, educations, etc. the activities at ODU are for different purposes depending on the goal of the activity. One of the interesting activities is visiting different and new places or making small trips such as visiting the beach, museums, and zoos. In this essay, I would like to talk about a trip to Norfolk Zoo that I joined for one of the ODU’s activities.

Making Friends
Making friends helps me start adjusting to American life. By living on campus and attending several courses, I have good chances to interact with my roommates and classmates who are from different countries. In addition, making friends not only makes learning different cultures more interesting and easier, it also helps me improve my English. Now I do not even feel alone here.

Family
There are many differences in between American and Indian culture. I would like to discuss about these differences in my proposal.In India family is the most important institution that has survived through the ages.They are more family oriented.In India family is considered strong,stable and close and enduring.Historically the traditional ideal and desired family in India is the joint family.whrereas in America most of their relations are not stable and families are not well oriented. Americans believe that they can really control their future. They are more specific to plan things.India,people however believe that everything goes by God's will.They make short term plans.Americans tend to have a series of short term relationships,and many do not commit with one person for a long time.Money is the only one of the many factor which motivate Indians to leane India to come to US.

Greetings
The greeting system is different in each culture. In addition, it is different from one nationality to another. Since the American culture has been raising with shaking hand behavior, most of ODU students prefer shaking hand in a first time meeting. Some cultures might kiss on cheeks each other. However, the American culture do not kiss cheeks. Thus, learning other cultures greeting system is an interesting experience for ODU students.

It is known that different nations have different cultures and ways to live. Some of them express their culture through traditional kinds of food and clothes, or through arts, music and ceremonies; through the education system, museum, library and information resources, and also through political patterns and performing religions. In the United States and because it’s the ‘melting pot’ with different people came from around the world and create an especial culture rich with a different characteristics, the noticeable thing beside of the previous aspects is the recreation through sports.
