GroundHog Day

every year ze groundhog comes out of his house. AHHH! he saw ze shadow so winter must last ze 6 more weeks. very kool ja. In ze Needham elementry schools there are groundhogday celebrations. And in ze famous Needham times you will be informed to see if there shall be ze 6 more weeks of winter. If you like ze Groundhogday and Tom Hanks you'll love Groundhogday the movie! it also has that lady from seinfeld.

This graph shows how many pople think groundhog day should be celebrated world wide. Ms. Sterns 2B class was surveyed. a total of 13 people participated in the survey 8 voted yes and 5 voted no. the range of the votes is three. The results did not suprise me because lots of people enjoy this holiday. ans there is no reason why the rest of the world should'nt celebrate groundhog day. I think we can draw accurate conclusions if this survey was given to the rest of 7th grade. the conclusion would probably around 8 to 5 because our computers class has different people from different clusters.

Bat/Bar Mitzvahs

There are alot of bar and bat mitzvahs in needham!! they are so much fun. There is a religous service, then a party!

Thanksgiving

A holiday of thanks, and a big feast too!!

It's almost thanksgiving! Yay!

Cant wait!

Christmas too!!!!

Christmas

When santa comes, and you get presents! All of the trees in the town center get lit up in whit lights. But, in the actual center of town, a huge tree is lit up in blue lights!!!!! It is an annual holiday celebrated on December 25 that commemorates the birth of Jeus of Nazareth. Christmas Day also marks the beginning of Christmastide, which lasts a total of 12 days. Christmas is celebrated throughtout the Christian population, but is also celebrated by those who are non-Christian as a secular, cultural festival such as Altheist.

This survey shows how many people celebrate Christmas and I came up with these answers from going around to everyone in my Tech. class.

The answers I came up with was from everyone in my computer class and I had surveyed the students and the teacher in class.

About 18 or so people got surveyed, but some people were absent, so this is only an estimate of how many people are in class including the teacher.

The most percentage was people who celebrated Christmas and the least was between people who don't celebrate Christmas and those who are both Jewish and Christian that still celebrates Christmas.

I wasn't really surprised at the results since I was pretty sure most students in my class celebrated Christmas and was Christian.

I think we can draw accurate conclusions about how the rest of the seventh grade at Pollard would respond to my survey based on my current survey results and I still think more would celebrate Christmas and very few who are half and some that don't celebrate Christmas.

New Years

Why is it the New Year if it's in the middle of winter? Who goes to Boston to watch the parade? Who here likes to watch the ball drop on TV? Why am I asking so many questions?

I usualy go to Boston because there's always a huge parade with floats, stilt-walkers, people in masks, chinese dragons, and lots of food. It's great!

4th of July

In Needham, we do fireworks on the 3rd not the 4th because then people can see the fireworks in Boston too.

The survey asked people where they went to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July, or whether they went at all.

The choices were Needham, Boston, Both, Other, or Stay Home (don't go to fireworks at all).

The whole 7th grade computers class was surveyed, which was 13 people.

The one with the most votes (9) was Needham, meaning that most people went to the High School to watch the fireworks. Then there was Stay Home with 3, and Other, the least, with 1. The range was 8.

I wasn’t really surprised that not a lot of people went to the High School to watch the fireworks. But I was surprised that nobody said that they went to Boston to watch the fireworks since Boston has better fireworks, it’s not very far away, and you don’t even have to miss the Needham fireworks since they’re on different days.

I think we can draw fairly accurate conclusions about the rest of the 7th grade from this survey because I think most people would go to the Needham fireworks, and not as many to the Boston fireworks. I think only a few would go to another place to watch fireworks.

On the 4th we have a parade in the morning and sometimes people throw candy. Other parts of the parade are:

Halloween

One thing that comes around during Halloween is the Pumpkin Patch. Every year, the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church has the pumpkin patch. It is open all week. Sundays to Fridays it is open 12:00pm to 7:00pm. On Saturdays, it is open 10:00am to 6:00pm.

The survey asked how do  people carve their pumpkins. They could choose from sccary/disturbing, sad, happy, other, or dont carve.

The whole class was surveyed, including the teacher. In total 21 people were surveyed.

The results were that the one with most votes was scary/disturbing. The next one was happy, then other, then dont carve, and sad got no votes.

The most was scary/disturbing. The least was sad.  The range is 9.

We werent really surprised beccause most people want to carve their pumpkins scary.

I think we can draw an accurate conclsion to the rest of the schoool becuase, normally people carve their pumpkins in a scary fashion. Where as few carve theirs in a sad way.

Our Favorite Seasons

This survey asked what people's favorite season was in my class period (1B) out of the choices Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall. I collected data from fifteen people, and here are my results! Summer had the most votes with seven (47%), and  had just two more than Fall which had five (33%). Then came Winter with two (13%) votes, and Spring with one (7%). The difference between the leading Season and the losing Season was 6, or 42%. I wasn't very surprised by the results, because a lot of like Summer because you can swim and their is no schoo! But I did expect more for Winter because of the Hollidays and the snow, and also it's my favorite! I think if I did more people from the rest of Pollard, Winter would have more, and also Spring and they wouldn't be so behing Summer and Fall. Here's the pie chart I made to show you!

A pie chart of our favorite seasons at Pollard!
